About the Role
The University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist for Geriatric Emergency Medicine. This permanent full-time nursing role, based at Toronto General Hospital or Toronto Western Hospital, offers an expanded scope of practice. You will demonstrate a high level of autonomy and clinical expertise in the care of geriatric patients, focusing on both acute and chronic illnesses, while actively promoting wellness within the Emergency Department (ED).
- Conduct comprehensive gerontological assessment using appropriate screening tools.
- Perform clinical cognitive and physical assessment, including review of significant lab/x-ray tests and current as well as past medical records.
- Identify high-risk patients for facilitation of appropriate interdisciplinary follow-up.

- Completion of a master’s degree in nursing or recognized equivalent.
- Specialty certificate in gerontology preferred.
- Five (5) years experience in an acute care setting.
- Experience in nursing research methodology.
- Eligible for cross-appointment to an academic institution.
- Current certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
