About the Role

Join the University Health Network (UHN) as a Medication Reimbursement Specialist at Toronto Western Hospital. This permanent full-time position is crucial for ensuring outpatients receive timely access to necessary medication. You will play a vital role in navigating complex health reimbursement programs, supporting patients and healthcare providers within the UHN system.

Key Duties

As a Medication Reimbursement Specialist, your responsibilities will include facilitating patient access to medication and providing expert guidance on reimbursement processes. Key duties include:

  • Facilitate and coordinate the submission of application forms for access to medication assistance for outpatients
  • Serve as the centralized point of contact for physicians, nurses, social workers and pharmacists, and, will be actively involved with government, community based and private agencies that provide financial assistance for medications
  • Serve as an advisor to patients, families and health care providers regarding medication access and reimbursement

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking a dedicated professional with a strong background in healthcare administration to join our team at University Health Network. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and related experience to effectively manage medication access and reimbursement processes:

  • At minimum, completion of a two year community college program in an Allied Health related discipline or recognised equivalent required
  • At minimum, two years practical and related experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in rheumatology, oncology, ophthalmology or related Outpatient setting
  • Knowledge and experience with public and private medication access/reimbursement programs and relevant agencies
  • Knowledge in specialty drugs (eg. rheumatology, ophthalmology, hepatology etc.); as asset
