Laboratory Scientist II - Saskatchewan Health Authority, Regina

Position Summary

The Saskatchewan Health Authority is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Scientist II to join the Toxicology Department at the Roy Romanow Provincial Lab in Regina, Saskatchewan. Who We're Looking For

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual for this Laboratory Scientist II position in Regina. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in scientific analysis and leadership within a laboratory setting. This role requires a commitment to precision and a comprehensive understanding of relevant scientific principles, particularly in areas like chemistry.

Experience:

• Twenty-four (24) months previous discipline-specific experience.

Education:

• Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in a defined science (e.g., Chemistry required in Chemistry, Microbiology in Microbiology, etc.).
• Required courses include:
• Intro Chemistry (similar to U of R Chemistry 104 or 105)
• Organic Chemistry (similar to U of R Chemistry 241)
• Analytical Chemistry I, II (similar to U of R Chemistry 210, 310/215)
• Separation Chemistry (Similar to U of R Chemistry 312)
• Biochemistry (6 Cr. Hrs.)
• Statistics (3 Cr. Hrs.)

Responsibilities

As a Laboratory Scientist II, your primary responsibilities will involve both hands-on analytical work and leadership within the laboratory environment. The diverse hours of work, including days, nights, evenings, weekends, and standby, reflect the critical nature of these duties.

• Performs a variety of analytical procedures, analysis and laboratory duties for the detection, diagnosis, prevention and management of disease and illness.
• Coordinates/leads technical staff and work processes of a laboratory or laboratory discipline.
