The Enterprise Data & Records Management Office (EDRMO) within the Chief Data Office (CDO) serves as the central hub for data and records governance at CIBC. As a Consultant, Data Governance Adherence, you'll join the Enterprise Data Governance Adherence Risk Assessor team, collaborating with partners across Strategic Business Units, Functional Groups, and project teams. You'll provide essential guidance and subject matter expertise on data and records risk across various projects and internal risk processes, contributing to a strong, sustainable enterprise data governance practice.
What You'll Do
In this dynamic role, you'll lead and support individual data and records risk assessments, ensuring activities align with due diligence requirements, policies, standards, guidelines, and service level agreements. Your contributions will be vital in identifying risks, strengthening controls, and promoting consistent governance across the organization. Specifically, you will:
- Conduct data and records risk assessments to identify potential risks, gaps, and vulnerabilities across initiatives and business processes.
- Support effective risk management through processes such as Change Initiative Risk Assessment (CIRA), Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Technology Triage, and Third Party Risk Assessment (TPRA).
- Build and apply strong knowledge of EDRMO data governance policies, standards, procedures, processes, and key controls.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of governance practices to support a sustainable enterprise data governance framework.
- Partner with colleagues across EDRMO and the broader enterprise to provide risk guidance, share insights, and support informed decision-making.
- Communicate risk-related issues clearly to help build a strong culture of accountability and awareness.
- Review qualitative and quantitative information to assess risk exposure, develop risk profiles, and support recommendations that strengthen governance and control environments.
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail and meeting established service expectations.
- Stay current on relevant regulatory expectations and industry best practices to help strengthen risk management approaches and support ongoing compliance.

We are looking for a professional who is motivated by collective success, enjoys investigating complex problems, and can communicate detailed information meaningfully. To thrive in this role, you should bring:
- 4+ years of experience in risk management, data governance, records management, or a related field.
- Experience supporting assessment-based processes in a large, complex organization is an asset.
- A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline.

- A commitment to our values: trust, teamwork, and accountability.
