The opportunity
Canadian Natural is seeking well-rounded intermediate to senior Area Geophysicists with strong technical and communication skills to join our Conventional Exploration team. This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse asset base, delivering integrated geophysical interpretations that support exploration, development, asset management, and future growth opportunities.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to progress opportunities across Canadian Natural’s conventional oil and gas portfolio, including cold heavy oil, light oil, liquids-rich natural gas, and other established and emerging opportunities throughout the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
At Canadian Natural, we pride ourselves on long-term career stability. As one of Canada’s largest independent energy producers, our diversified portfolio and disciplined capital strategy allow us to operate steadily through commodity cycles. Joining our team means contributing to sustainable growth while developing your technical and leadership capabilities in a collaborative environment.
Your impact

- Provide geophysical support to the planning and execution of drilling and completion programs, including horizontal, multi-lateral, stratigraphic, and disposal wells
- Support asset management activities including land sale evaluations, acquisitions and divestitures (A&D), land expiries, and other business development opportunities
- Apply a broad range of seismic interpretation techniques, including seismic modelling and synthetic well ties, horizon and fault interpretation, amplitude and attribute analysis, and time-to-depth conversion, integrating results with geological, petrophysical, engineering, and production data
- Develop technically sound recommendations and clearly communicate subsurface interpretations, risks, uncertainties, and opportunities to multidisciplinary teams and management
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other geoscientists and contribute to the continuous improvement of geophysical workflows and interpretation practices

- Proven problem-solving, communication, organizational, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Strong business acumen with a demonstrated ability to integrate geophysics with economic drivers, focus effort on the highest-value opportunities, and identify technical optimizations that improve project economics
- Demonstrated proficiency with SeisWare is required. Experience with SubsurfaceAI Attribute Studio, Hampson&Russell applications (including Strata, Emerge, Pro4D, and AVO), and analytical tools such as Tableau, ArcGIS, Excel, and Python are considered an asset
