About this opportunity
As part of BMO’s Canadian Personal & Business Banking group, the Business Management team within Strategic Vendor Management is seeking a Financial Governance & Reporting Analyst for a 1-year contract opportunity. This role provides essential financial and business analysis support, focusing on effective supplier management by monitoring and reporting on the financial performance and condition of the business/function. You will work across BMO to ensure information is reported completely and accurately, contributing to sound business outcomes and supporting the overall group.
Responsibilities
- Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.
- Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules, while escalating judgment-based decisions, risks, missing evidence, approval delays, or complex issues as appropriate.
- Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
- Provides advice and guidance to assigned business/group on implementation of solutions.
- Ensures financial results are well understood and how they impact to business results.
- Coordinates and executes specific activities for the implementation of strategic initiatives; includes tracking metrics and milestones.
- Uses Power Query and other data tools to gather, transform, combine, validate, and format data from multiple sources, supporting recurring and ad hoc reporting, dashboards, and analytical insights.
- Uses data visualization and DAX to analyze and present information, with particular emphasis on time-based analysis.
- Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
- Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
- Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

This role requires a strong analytical mindset and proficiency with data tools. You will be expected to leverage tools like Power Query for data gathering, transformation, and validation from various sources. Expertise in data visualization and DAX is essential for analyzing and presenting information, particularly for time-based analysis. The ability to work independently on complex tasks and effectively manage stakeholder relationships is also key to providing effective support within the BMO financial group.
