Position Summary

Sun Life is seeking a dedicated Talent Management Consultant to join their team in Toronto, Ontario. This pivotal role reports to the AVP, Talent Management, and is central to supporting and enabling a diverse range of talent initiatives and programs across Sun Life Canada. The successful candidate will provide essential project management and event management support for key talent, learning, and recognition programs, including various new and ongoing HR initiatives and strategic projects. Responsibilities

As a Talent Management Consultant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the day-to-day oversight of the online recognition platform (Applause), collaborating with various stakeholders including HRBPs and Business representatives to manage requests and reporting.
  • Providing program management for the iStars recognition celebration in Sun Life Canada, including the nominations process, communications, points administration, and reporting. This involves partnering with the Event Services team to deliver the iStar event, including planning and vendor management.
  • Acting as the Sun Life Canada representative on the CEO’s Award program, which involves gathering and organizing nominations, answering HRBP questions, and preparing materials for Executive team discussion.
  • Supporting the delivery of various global talent initiatives across Sun Life Canada in partnership with Global Talent teams. This includes areas such as Employee Training, Career Development, Goal Setting and Performance, Leadership Development, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Inclusion & Belonging, and Workforce planning & transformation initiatives.
  • Providing team support as required, such as organizing team events, managing team SharePoint site content and access, developing materials and communications, conducting talent data analysis, and handling other ad hoc requests.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a strong foundation in human resources and talent development, coupled with practical experience.

  • A university degree with 3-6 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, in Talent Management, Learning & Development, Human Resources, or a similar field.

Key skills and attributes required include:

  • Strong organizational, time management, and process management skills necessary to maintain a high-volume workload.
  • Comfort and confidence with ambiguity, demonstrating the ability to initiate projects with minimal direction and sound judgement on when to involve leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and build strong relationships across Human Resources and Centres of Excellence.
  • Proven ability to support the execution and delivery of high-profile events.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to create project plans and execute on deliverables and timing, communicating these plans clearly to key stakeholders and partners.
  • Demonstrates strong ethics and trust, with the ability to handle sensitive confidential information.
  • Sufficient fluency with data and analytics to maintain accurate data on programs/participants and create actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
