About the Opportunity

As a Senior Property Appraiser at Definity, you will play a crucial role in providing national technical support and oversight for property claims across Canada. You will regularly conduct comprehensive desk audits, perform virtual re-inspections, and meticulously review estimates, offering expert guidance on complex property damage assessments. A significant aspect of this role is partnering closely with various vendors, repair networks, and internal claims teams to foster quality, consistency, and service excellence throughout the country. You will be responsible for reviewing and ensuring compliance with Property Vendor Program Instructions for estimates, requiring a proficient working knowledge of the Xactware/Xactimate (Verisk) suite of software. Furthermore, you will complete national property desk audits and virtual re-inspections in line with current Program Instructions and National Service Level Agreements. The role also involves writing estimates through our Express program and providing technical expertise pertaining to structural property damage to regional management and claim handlers nationally. Collaboration with all Definity Repair Partners is essential to build positive working relationships, and you will monitor estimating platforms to ensure vendors adhere to the Contractor Program Instruction. Working closely with national vendor partners on various programs, pricing, and protocols, you will also provide support with the effective use of estimating software programs where required. Your expertise will extend to technical consultation on environmental losses and researching newest technology to make recommendations both internally and externally about adopting same. Promoting Definity’s claims programs during vendor visits and assisting with complaint handling and dispute resolution are also key responsibilities. Maintaining a high level of expertise in all estimating software and hardware is paramount, as is conducting research and making recommendations on regional pricing and unit costing issues.

What You Bring

To succeed in this Senior Property Appraiser role, candidates should bring substantial experience as a Construction Estimator, Project Manager, Project Manager Assistant, or project site manager, specifically within the insurance restoration industry. Commercial building construction experience is considered a valuable asset. A strong understanding of provincial and national building codes is essential, alongside a solid grasp of residential and commercial construction terminology. Proficiency with the Verisk estimating software suite of programs is a core requirement, demonstrating your ability to manage complex property assessments.
