As a Sports Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing and evaluating direct participation in specific sports programs across various sites. Your on-site responsibilities will include coordination, supervision, participant orientation, cash handling, customer service, risk management procedures, and general administrative tasks. This role is crucial for delivering the best possible experience in the City of Ottawa's facilities.

To qualify for this position, you must have:

• Completed at least Grade 10.
• At least one (1) year of work experience with the public and in an administrative or cash handling role.
• Prior experience leading recreational sports activities and providing participant orientation.
• A valid Standard First Aid Certificate.
• A valid Two-Person CPR Certificate.
• A valid AED Operator Certificate.
• AODA Customer Service/NAI training.

Additionally, successful candidates will have:

• A demonstrated level of confidence and experience as required by specific or general sports programs.
• A functional knowledge of the department's facilities and programs to effectively guide clients to other sites if necessary.
• Awareness of relevant health and safety legislation, including workers' rights and obligations.
• The ability to maintain accurate records.
• A clear understanding of City policies and procedures related to cash handling.
• The capacity to work in a demanding environment with fluctuating priorities.
• The ability to teach skating (knowledge of basic techniques) is considered an asset.

Compensation and Perks

This permanent part-time position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $18.247 to $19.314, based on 2024 remuneration rates. As an employee of the City of Ottawa, you will be affiliated with CUPE 503 PT - RC & Aquatics/CUPE 503 PT Rec. You will be provided with a uniform and whistle by the City of Ottawa, which must be worn during shifts.
