About the Role

The Senior Manager – International Banking, Finance plays a pivotal role in Scotiabank's strategic direction. This position is central to conducting strategic analyses, identifying and sizing key business opportunities, and leading transformational initiatives across the Bank. You will be instrumental in shaping how financial and business data is analysed and transformed into scalable insights, directly informing Scotiabank’s overarching strategy. This role ensures the effective execution of strategic plans, fostering alignment across diverse teams and facilitating the achievement of critical business goals through insightful analysis and delivery.

The scope of this role involves thorough analysis of financial, business, and market data, alongside the development and implementation of work-plans designed to improve and structurally transform Scotiabank’s business performance throughout the Americas.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive Strategic Initiatives: Identify and implement opportunities to enhance business performance, operational efficiency, and profitability within International Banking through comprehensive data analysis and recommendations.
  • Support Strategic and Financial Planning: Contribute to the development of short- and long-term strategies in International Banking by analysing financial performance metrics, market trends, and competitive benchmarks to optimise performance in terms of costs, revenue, and other key financial indicators.
  • Own End-to-End Project Planning and Execution: Lead projects from initial planning through to implementation, including defining clear objectives, managing timelines, identifying potential risks, effectively managing stakeholders, and coordinating next steps to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Enable Cross-Functional and Cross-Country Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders to align strategic goals, streamline reporting processes, and ensure consistent execution of initiatives across various regions and teams.
  • Prepare Executive-Level Insights: Develop and deliver high-quality insights, including detailed reports, compelling presentations, and strategic recommendations for Finance, Business Line leadership, and other senior executives to support critical strategic decision-making.
  • Foster a High-Performance Culture: Promote team engagement, inclusive collaboration, and continuous improvement in methodologies and practices within the team.

Skills and Experience for Success

To succeed in this challenging and dynamic business environment, you will bring a robust set of skills and proven experience in strategic roles within the financial sector. Your ability to translate complex data into actionable insights will be key to driving business outcomes.

  • 5+ years of experience in management consulting, data & analytics, strategy, or transformation, with a focus on the banking or financial services industry.
  • Proven ability to drive business outcomes through structured, data-driven insights, planning, and prioritisation.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate meaningful insights.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build dynamic financial models.
  • Proven ability to thrive both independently and in collaborative, cross-functional environments.
  • Strong structured and effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to deliver results consistently in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic business environment.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong knowledge in financial analysis, corporate finance experience, or FP&A is an asset.
  • MBA and/or business/finance designation preferred.
  • Spanish fluency is preferred.
