About the Role

As a Senior Manager within Scotiabank's Global Identity Enablement Operations team, you will play a critical leadership role in safeguarding the bank's enterprise identity services. Reporting to the Director of Identity Lifecycle Management, this position requires a technical leader who can champion a customer-focused culture while driving significant security enhancements. A core responsibility involves leading the remediation of Active Directory identity vulnerabilities and control gaps, which includes meticulous triage, accurate risk classification, diligent tracking, and comprehensive reporting. Your expertise will ensure that AD and Entra identity security controls are effective across the entire enterprise, addressing identity risks within the Bank’s established risk appetite through robust governance, stringent operational controls, and timely remediation efforts. This role also serves as a vital Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID subject matter expert for audit and regulatory engagements, coordinating walkthroughs, gathering essential evidence, and managing response and remediation activities. Collaboration with Identity Governance is key to aligning standards, guides, and procedures for consistent enterprise adoption, ensuring scalable and standardized identity operations. This position requires strong operational acumen to manage day-to-day identity operations and prioritisation, applying the Bank’s risk appetite effectively.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

The Senior Manager, Global Identity Enablement Operations will actively partner and collaborate with the Senior Manager, Identity Lifecycle Management (ILM) to align on shared process improvements and synchronize the transition of identity engagements from project delivery into Business-as-Usual (BAU) operational tasks. This partnership ensures operating procedures, handoffs, and controls are consistently implemented, enabling scalable, standardized identity operations across the Enterprise. You will provide guidance on identity lifecycle processes, privileged access, and urgent access scenarios for AD and Entra-integrated platforms. A significant aspect of this role involves improving processes and tasks through automation to reduce manual effort, enhance quality, and increase SLA attainment, alongside enhancing Entra ID and AD operations through comprehensive documentation, runbooks, monitoring alignment, and rigorous control testing. Developing and executing remediation plans for AD and Entra audit, regulatory, and risk findings is crucial, as is prioritising, tracking, and reporting on vulnerability remediation, operational issues, and escalations through established governance and metrics. Providing after-hours support for urgent identity incidents, vulnerability escalations, and critical operational issues is also a requirement, coordinating with ILM Ops, engineering, and platform teams to resolve root causes and implement preventative controls. Identifying recurring AD and Entra issues and leading continuous improvement with cross-functional partners will be a key part of your experience.

Skills and Experience Required

To excel in this Senior Manager position, candidates must possess a minimum of five years of people management and leadership experience, coupled with at least ten years of extensive IAM operations experience. This includes hands-on expertise with Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID. The ability to lead complex technical work, translate intricate risk scenarios into actionable operational outcomes, and make sound decisions under pressure is paramount. Demonstrated experience supporting technical audit and regulatory reviews, including meticulous evidence preparation, crafting clear control narratives, and diligent remediation tracking, is essential. Strong technical knowledge of Windows Server, Windows OS, Microsoft Active Directory, and Microsoft Entra ID is a fundamental requirement. Furthermore, experience with identity security controls, vulnerability management, and remediation within large enterprise environments will be critical. The role also benefits from experience using AI and agentic AI to drive automation and operational efficiency in IAM environments, alongside proficiency with ServiceNow for reporting and metrics. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills are vital for explaining complex identity risk to diverse audiences, fostering collaboration across operations, engineering, governance, and risk and compliance teams to build positive working relationships. Strong analytical skills are needed to interpret identity telemetry, vulnerability findings, and operational data, coupled with strong organizational skills to manage multiple intake channels and balance delivery with remediation commitments. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required, with Spanish being an asset.
