Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

In this pivotal role, your impact starts with leading, designing, and delivering comprehensive geotechnical investigations that support safe and sustainable water and tailings dams, as well as resource development projects throughout Alberta. You will interpret complex field and laboratory data, applying sound engineering judgment to develop high-quality technical reports. Project management will be a core responsibility, ensuring technical excellence, on-time delivery, and strong client service for projects of varying scale and complexity. A crucial aspect of this position involves providing mentorship, guidance, and support to junior and intermediate engineers, contributing to a strong, future-ready Ground Engineering team. You will conduct advanced geotechnical analyses and modelling for slopes, dams, waste dumps, and pit walls, and participate in construction oversight and site assessments under diverse environmental conditions. To excel, you will need a Bachelor’s degree in Civil (Geotechnical) or Geological Engineering, with a postgraduate degree being an asset, alongside a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with APEGA. A minimum of 10 years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience, encompassing investigation, analysis, and design, is required. Proven consulting experience with accountability for clients, budgets, and technical outcomes is essential. Proficiency with geotechnical modelling tools such as Slope/W, Seep/W, FLAC, Plaxis, and Global Mapper, coupled with a continuous learning mindset, will set you apart.
