Reporting directly to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of investment reconciliations, particularly during period-end processes. This position requires a detail-oriented professional ready to bridge investment operations, custodians, and the general ledger, solidifying the completeness and accuracy of our significant investment portfolio for comprehensive financial reporting.
As a Senior Financial Analyst, your expertise will be vital in managing complex investment accounting tasks. You will be responsible for reconciling cash transactions and position activity, including buys, sells, income, and corporate actions, between investment custodians and our corporate investment tool, Portia. A key aspect of this role involves collaborating closely with the Investments team to analyse variances, identify root causes, and resolve any discrepancies promptly. Preparing and posting essential journal entries for accruals, amortization/accretion, realised/unrealised gains/losses, and investment fees will be part of your regular duties. Furthermore, you will reconcile the general ledger to various investment portfolios, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and appropriate cut-off procedures. Monitoring compliance with IFRS accounting policies is paramount, as is owning month-end and quarter-end close deliverables related to investments, including detailed reconciliations, financial statement and MDA-related disclosures, thorough variance analysis, and supporting schedules. Your diligent work in this area will directly impact our overall financial reporting accuracy and regulatory compliance.
To excel in this role, candidates should possess a completed post-secondary degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional designations such as CPA or CFA are considered a significant asset, demonstrating advanced financial experience. Proven experience with investment accounting and reconciliation is essential, coupled with a solid knowledge of diverse investment products like equities, bonds, money market instruments, and derivatives. Strong proficiency with Excel is a must, alongside exceptional analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail. This position requires a self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with internal teams and external parties.
