Scotiabank is seeking a dedicated Data Platform Risk & Operations Analyst to join its Enterprise Data & Artificial Intelligence team in Toronto, Ontario. This pivotal role supports the Platform Data & Operations unit by providing essential risk analysis, documentation, and comprehensive data management support. The successful candidate will leverage technical expertise in data visualization and dashboard management to deliver actionable insights, significantly contributing to the reduction of risk across Scotiabank’s extensive legacy and emerging data and AI capabilities. A key aspect of this position involves contributing to the design of the overall risk and issues management framework, ensuring compliance with the Bank’s broader Enterprise standards.
The Analyst will actively support periodic effectiveness reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of the team's internal processes, working collaboratively with the Senior Manager and various stakeholders to develop actionable project plans that address data and platform risks within required timelines. Furthermore, this role is responsible for managing the team’s internal and external risk and issues management documentation, comprehensive reporting, and precise tracking via dashboards. Providing insights and recommendations to senior management, while ensuring accuracy in metrics, KPIs, and KRIs, is paramount. The Analyst will also prepare and deliver weekly and monthly updates to various forums and stakeholders, manage the preparation and writing of audit-related documentation, and coordinate responses. Maintaining awareness of data security, compliance, and platform concepts is crucial to support ongoing reporting and robust risk management needs, ensuring adherence to data reporting standards and methodologies. Key Qualifications
To succeed in this Data Platform Risk & Operations Analyst role at Scotiabank, candidates must possess a minimum of five years’ experience working in a technology risk, audit, data, or data platforms environment, preferably within the banking sector. This experience should encompass dealing with various operational, regulatory, and technical risks and controls. A university degree in Business, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience, is required. Proven experience navigating large, matrix organizations with various stakeholders, priorities, and constraints is also essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical for effectively engaging with both technical and non-technical audiences at various levels within the organization.
