About the Opportunity
Trillium Health Partners is seeking a dedicated Part-time Registered Dietitian to join our Nutrition and Food Services team at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario. This vital role focuses on inpatient Women’s and Children’s services, specifically within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
The position offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $44.05 to $56.00, with shifts primarily on days, Monday to Friday, including rotating weekends.
Your Responsibilities
As an active member of our multidisciplinary team, you will deliver patient-centred clinical nutrition therapy to preterm infants, paediatric, and obstetric inpatients. Your responsibilities include providing quality nutrition therapy based on patient diagnosis, treatment, age, and nutritional status in an inpatient setting.
You will conduct screenings and assessments, contribute to care plan development, establish goal-oriented treatment interventions, and provide patient and family education and support to address nutritional needs. This role also involves educating patients, family members, and Trillium Health Partners staff on therapeutic diets and nutrition therapy, as well as providing group education to medical students.
You will act as a coach, mentor, and consultant, using critical thinking to achieve patient outcomes and facilitate team function. Additionally, you will serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns and mentor other students, and participate in interprofessional patient care teams and hospital or regional committees as required. Completing daily workload statistics is also part of this role.
What You'll Bring
To be successful in this role, you must hold a degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics with a completed Dietetic Internship, or have a Master's or Diploma practicum program. Current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario is essential.
Candidates should possess established clinical skills in the nutritional management of medically complex infants, children, and post-partum women. Experience in the management of enteral and parenteral nutrition support in the NICU is required. A minimum of two years of recent experience in NICU, paediatric inpatients, and high-risk obstetrics is also necessary.
We are looking for a reliable, flexible, creative, and self-directed professional who can work effectively and collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment. You will demonstrate effective interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, along with the ability to utilize practice-based research to ensure excellence in nutritional care. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 is required, and experience with a hospital information system such as Epic is preferred.
