As a Meat Cutter, you'll be a vital part of our team, engaging directly with customers, answering their questions about everything from grilling techniques to nutritional information. You'll be trained to uphold Safeway's reputation for outstanding quality cuts, ensuring our customers always receive the best products.

What you'll bring

We are looking for individuals who are highly motivated, team-oriented, and possess strong customer service qualities. While Safeway specific training will be provided, candidates with previous retail meat cutting experience will be given strong preference. Your ability to work in a fast-paced environment and communicate clearly will be key to your success.

• Available to work flexible hours
• Evening and weekend availability is strongly encouraged
• Previous Retail Meat Cutting experience an asset
• Must be available to be scheduled anytime on Sunday (Alberta Only)

This role also involves certain physical requirements to ensure efficient operation within the meat department:

• Constant lifting of up to 20 pounds
• Constant hand coordination, reaching and gripping
• Frequent standing, squatting, bending, walking, twisting, pushing or pulling
• Occasional lifting of between 20-100 pounds
• Occasional exposure to cold temperatures

Responsibilities

In this role, your daily responsibilities will focus on delivering superior customer service and ensuring the meat department operates efficiently and to Safeway's high standards. You will be instrumental in preparing and presenting our wide range of meat products.

• Upholds and complies with company procedures, standards and policies in all situations
• Greets customers in a polite and friendly manner
• Demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with Safeway’s programs
• Cut and prepare meat products for display using knives and saws
• Stocking various meat products to shelves
• Maintaining and building merchandise displays in compliance with Safeway programs
• Use of commercial power equipment
• Order writing
• Receiving and rotating product
• Filling product showcases
• Cleaning and sanitizing of work area
