Your Day-to-Day as a Mobile Service Technician

As a Mobile Service Technician with Home Depot, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the large equipment rental fleet across assigned stores in Huntsville and North Bay. This mobile position requires a strong mechanical aptitude and a customer-focused approach to ensure all rental equipment is safe, clean, and ready for our customers. You will independently plan your routes and priorities to provide essential service and support.

  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and minor repairs on large rental equipment.
  • Ensure the equipment fleet is rental-ready, safe, and clean for stores and customers.
  • Respond to customer service calls and resolve equipment concerns directly in the field.
  • Provide technical support for Tool Rental Centre associates and customers.
  • Adhere to all safety, transportation, towing, PPE, Hazmat, and driver log requirements.

Skills and Experience for this Mobile Role

To excel in this Mobile Service Technician role, you should possess a solid background in mechanical service and a commitment to safe work habits. Your ability to troubleshoot and maintain various types of equipment will be key to supporting our rental operations and ensuring customer satisfaction.

  • 2+ years’ experience in equipment rental or mechanical service, including engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and compact construction equipment.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid provincial driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and parts catalogues.
  • Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, laptops, and mobile apps for daily tasks.
  • Flexibility for shifts, weekends, or after-hours work as needed.
  • Authorized to work in Canada and able to pass a background check.

This position involves working in various settings including stores, lots, shops, and field environments, often in varied weather conditions. It requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and working around equipment, grease, fumes, oils, chemicals, and noise. Travel between assigned locations in the Huntsville and North Bay areas is required, with limited overnight travel.
