Role Overview

Are you an experienced technician with a passion for equipment maintenance and a knack for leadership? The Home Depot is looking for a Lead Rental Technician for a 1-year contract in the BRITISH COLUMBIA market. This pivotal mobile lead role serves as the senior technical authority for large equipment diagnostics, maintenance, and ensuring customer readiness within our Tool rental operations. You will combine advanced mechanical repair skills with training responsibilities, coordinating Mobile Service Technician efforts, and providing essential fleet support.

Responsibilities

As a Lead Rental Technician, your expertise will be crucial in maintaining our diverse fleet and supporting our team. Key responsibilities include:

• Diagnose, inspect, and repair gas/diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, fuel, and brake systems on various rental equipment.
• Complete safety campaigns and perform Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) on new and existing equipment.
• Assess down tools, order necessary parts, complete repairs efficiently, and provide leadership with updates on critical timelines to reduce downtime.
• Maintain GPS and accurately track asset moves between locations and job sites.
• Ensure regulatory compliance by maintaining accurate driver's logs, inspections, and provincial transportation standards.
• Train and support rental associates and mobile service technicians on large equipment procedures and routine maintenance standards.
• Act as the primary escalation contact for technical support and deliver job-site support within 24 hours.

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate for this Lead Rental Technician position will possess a strong technical background and a commitment to operational excellence. We are seeking individuals who meet the following qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in heavy equipment, light industrial, or gas mechanical systems.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record, and proven tandem-axle towing experience.
• Skilled in complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostics and repairs.
• Ability to read repair manuals, schematics, and parts guides effectively.
• Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and diagnostic applications for technical support and troubleshooting.
• Must provide standard hand/trade tools.

This role also requires physical capability, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs; bend, kneel, crawl, and climb onto equipment as needed. You should be prepared to work outdoors in Canadian weather, with exposure to noise, fumes, dirt, and grease.
