<h3>Key Responsibilities of a Legal Assistant in Accident Benefits</h3> In this Legal Assistant role, your primary responsibilities will include the ongoing administration and meticulous organization of legal files, ensuring all documentation is handled efficiently. You will be instrumental in drafting correspondence and managing the serving and filing of License Appeal Tribunal (LAT) documents. A key aspect of your contribution will involve scheduling critical events, including examinations under oath, various meetings, case conferences, and LAT hearings, demonstrating your ability to manage complex calendars. Furthermore, you will assist with comprehensive hearing preparation, including the drafting of witness and expert notice letters and the meticulous scheduling of preparation meetings. Your input into refining procedures and best practices will be valued, contributing to the overall efficiency of our paperless environment. You will also perform other essential duties as required of a dedicated legal assistant within our robust legal framework, ensuring the smooth operation of accident benefits claims.
<h3>Essential Qualifications and Experience for This Legal Assistant Role</h3> To excel in this Legal Assistant position, candidates must possess a minimum of two years of direct experience as a Legal Assistant, specifically within a team practising accident benefits law in Ontario. A thorough knowledge of License Appeal Tribunal procedures and the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule is absolutely essential for success in this role. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and all MS Office applications is required, alongside excellent document management skills and the ability to swiftly learn and effectively utilize our various software systems, such as TeamConnect and ACL. Experience with priority and loss transfer claims is considered a significant asset. We seek an individual with a high degree of personal ethics, integrity, and responsibility, coupled with a proven ability to deal with sensitive issues and safeguard privileged and confidential information. The successful candidate will also demonstrate great attention to detail, strong proofreading abilities, and the capacity to perform under pressure, meet deadlines, and expertly handle multiple, sometimes conflicting, priorities. A high degree of proficiency with English is also required to service both internal and external customers across Canada.
