Details

As an Intermediate Environmental Scientist within the RPM team, you will play a crucial role in supporting remediation programs, particularly across Canada’s Northern Territories. This position requires a minimum of three years’ experience in the contaminated sites regulatory framework. Key responsibilities include planning and delivering two annual field programs, actively participating in fieldwork, and preparing detailed follow-up technical reports. You will work within a close-knit team, collaborating closely with Project Coordinators, Project Managers, Senior Project Directors/Technical Leads, and Field Technicians/Scientists/Engineers. A vital aspect of this role involves preparing comprehensive Health and Safety plans and Emergency Response plans for field operations, ensuring the well-being of all team members. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to train junior staff in essential environmental practices, including Phase I and II ESAs, drilling, surveying, groundwater sampling, and overseeing remediation activities, always with a strong emphasis on site-specific health and safety protocols. Your contribution will also involve compiling data and authoring reports, formulating clear conclusions and recommendations. This role demands significant field experience, often in remote locations during winter and summer programs, typically involving shifts of approximately two weeks on and two weeks off.

To excel in this Intermediate Environmental Scientist role at WSP, candidates should possess a university degree or diploma in engineering, natural, or earth sciences. A minimum of three years of field experience in contaminated site assessments is essential, demonstrating a practical understanding of environmental challenges.
