This role offers an hourly wage ranging from $25.599 to $29.555, working Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00, with two out of six weekends required. This temporary position is expected to last up to six months.
As a CUPEC01 level role within Patient Support Services, this position is integral to maintaining a clean, organised, and supportive environment for patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for ordering, stocking, distributing, and storing various supplies, including housekeeping items, linen, and food. You will also maintain inventory of essential equipment like wheelchairs and stretchers within the unit.
Patient support is a core duty, involving the safe transport of patients to and from different hospital departments, such as X-Ray, and moving patients or furniture within the unit. You will also manage patient meal services, including delivering and setting up meal trays, collecting soiled trays for the meal cart, and distributing patient nourishments.
Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene is crucial. This includes daily cleaning of patient rooms, lounges, offices, and common areas, as well as utility rooms, pantries, corridors, and nurses’ stations. You will empty garbage, sanitise containers, clean up spills, and ensure floors are well-maintained through dry mopping, wet mopping, and buffing. Additionally, you will strip and make unoccupied beds and stretchers, utilising appropriate chemicals and cleaning agents.
Effective communication is essential; you will maintain open and timely communication with team members and management staff, including using a pager as required, and perform other related duties as necessary.
What You'll Bring
Candidates should have a minimum of Grade 12 education and/or equivalent experience in a support services role. The ability to communicate effectively with patients and co-workers, as well as to read, write, and follow instructions, is required.
This position demands physical capability to perform all job duties and the flexibility to work all shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends. A positive work and attendance record is essential for success in this role.
