As a Director-level Delivery Lead at Scotiabank in Toronto, Ontario, you will elevate the organisation's delivery capability by fostering an agile, human-centred, and continuously improving culture. Key duties involve coaching teams and leaders on Agile practices, driving continuous improvement through metrics, and leading organisational transformation across Global Cash Management Engineering teams. Top requirements include director-level experience, deep knowledge of Agile frameworks, and proven success in enterprise-wide Agile transformations.
About the Role
Join Scotiabank as a Director-level Delivery Lead within Global Cash Management, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our delivery capabilities. This position focuses on fostering a strong culture of agility, continuous improvement, and human-centred collaboration across our engineering teams. You will operate with an enterprise scope, influencing senior leaders and actively contributing to our delivery strategy and organisational transformation efforts. This role demands a passion for enabling teams to achieve their fullest potential through effective coaching and strategic guidance.
You will be responsible for mentoring Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and new Agile practitioners, upskilling our existing leaders and team members by sharing your experience in adapting core Agile principles to real-world applications. A key part of your role involves guiding leaders to embrace their supportive role within Agile teams, moving away from traditional command and control behaviours. You will act as a trusted advisor on Agile practices, product strategy alignment, and identifying and resolving organisational impediments, promoting a strong culture of accountability within every team.
Driving Continuous Improvement and Transformation
A core aspect of this role involves introducing, measuring, and refining Agile metrics. You will leverage delivery data, such as cycle time, throughput, and trends, to evaluate team health and the value of customer delivery, supporting evidence-based planning. Using both qualitative and quantitative insights, you will guide improvement experiments and foster data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
You will maintain an awareness of industry best practices, incorporating modern coaching techniques and tools to support the design and rollout of comprehensive delivery strategies across various departments or portfolios. Your expertise will be crucial in coaching teams on Agile values, principles, and mindset to enhance flow, predictability, and quality. You will observe, evaluate, and lead by example in Agile ceremonies, empowering teams to self-facilitate. Partnering closely with leaders, you will help build an environment where autonomy, trust, psychological safety, and continuous learning can thrive, promoting cross-functional collaboration to improve end-to-end delivery flow.
What You'll Bring
Candidates for this Director-level position should possess post-secondary education or equivalent experience in relevant fields. Relevant certifications such as ICAgile Agile Coaching (ICP-ACC or ICP-ATF), Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) or Certified Agile Coach (CEC/CTC), or SAFe, Kanban, or Lean certifications are considered a significant asset.
Professionally, you will bring extensive experience operating at a Director level or equivalent, demonstrating a proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive enterprise-wide Agile transformations. Success in previous roles as an Agile Coach, Scrum Master, or Delivery Lead, specifically coaching multiple teams, is essential. You must have a track record of driving organisational-level transformations or modernisation efforts. Deep knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, XP, Lean) and scaling approaches (SAFe, LeSS, or similar) is required. Furthermore, strong facilitation, mentoring, and conflict resolution skills are critical, alongside the ability to coach effectively at all levels, from hands-on delivery teams to senior leadership. Demonstrated success in improving team health, delivery flow, and customer-centric practices, coupled with excellent communication and storytelling skills to influence without direct authority, will be key to your success. A genuine passion for continuous learning, psychological safety, and fostering an inclusive team culture is paramount.
