Role overview

The Georgetown Hospital Emergency Department serves the communities of Halton, Halton Hills, and the surrounding areas. Our ED is a 15-bed unit featuring a separate Rapid Assessment Fast Track zone, serving patients of all ages and treating every medical and mental health illness across over 39,000 patient visits last year.

Our 24-hour staff comprises nurses, physicians, physician assistants, and a robust multidisciplinary team. This includes dedicated mental health and internal medicine resources to ensure comprehensive assessments of patients for timely referrals and admissions. Functioning interdependently with multidisciplinary team members, you will assess the needs of and provide treatment to adult and paediatric patients requiring care in the emergency department.

• Current Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Heart and Stroke Approved BLS Provider Card upon hire
• Previous Emergency Department experience required
• Experience in triage and in-charge responsibilities required
• ACLS certificate required at time of hire and ongoing
• Completion of an on-site sponsored course is required within one year of hire date
• Successful completion of Canadian Emergency Nursing Certification Exam would be an asset
• Successful completion of post-diploma Emergency courses, e.g. TNCC, ENPC, PALS, would be an asset
• Basic ECG interpretation and 12 lead ECG application and interpretation preferred
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
• Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
