Key Qualifications:
Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and a Dietetic Internship, or Master's or Diploma practicum program
Current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario required
Established clinical skills in nutritional management of adult medically complex inpatients
Experienced in the management of enteral and parenteral nutrition support, Dietitians of Canada Critical Care course required
Reliable, flexible, creative, self-directed professional, able to work effectively and collaboratively within a very high-paced, dynamic environment
Effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to utilize practice-based research to ensure excellence in the provision of nutritional care.
Proficiency in computer Microsoft 365 and hospital information system – Epic (preferred).
Two years recent experience with established clinical skills in an inpatient acute care setting
Position Summary:
As an active member of the inter-professional team, you will:
Be responsible for the delivery of evidenced-based, equitable and patient-centered medical nutrition therapy to general medicine and surgical patients of a diverse population
Provide quality nutrition therapy in relation to the patient's diagnosis, treatment plan, age, and nutrition status in an inpatient setting
Provide screening and assessment; contribute to care plan development; establish goal-oriented treatment interventions; conduct patient/family education; and provide support to address nutritional needs
Provide education to patients and family members on nutrition therapy as needed.
Monday to Friday day shifts
Weekend ICU coverage is required.
Participate in education opportunities to staff and professional staff on therapeutic diets and nutrition therapy as needed.
Act as a coach/mentor/consultant using sound critical thinking skills to achieve patient outcomes and to facilitate team function
Act as a preceptor for dietetic interns and coach/mentor other students as appropriate
Participate in inter-professional patient care teams and hospital/regional committees as required
