As a Platform Engineer, you will provide strong technical leadership, guiding the design, development, and evolution of full-stack software solutions. Your responsibilities will include serving as a technical leader for a team of developers, providing hands-on guidance, mentorship, and thorough code reviews across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). You will drive strong engineering practices, including clean architecture, comprehensive test automation, secure coding, and maintainable design, ensuring high-quality software delivery. This role requires a deep understanding of store platform engineering, where you will design and build backend services, APIs, and integration layers that provide reliable transaction processing and in-store workflows. You will also contribute to solutions supporting in-store mobile applications and store-resident systems, ensuring they are designed for the unique challenges of store environments, including high availability and intermittent connectivity. Collaboration with Product Owners and Project Managers is key to translating business requirements into clear technical designs and supporting predictable, high-quality delivery aligned with both short-term priorities and long-term platform direction.
To excel in this role, candidates must bring strong, hands-on experience as a full-stack software engineer and a proven technical leader. A deep understanding of object-oriented design, application architecture, and modern engineering practices is crucial. You should have demonstrated experience leading teams through the full SDLC, delivering high-quality, production-ready software, including integration-heavy, distributed, and business-critical systems. Strong understanding of performance optimization, resiliency patterns, and robust error handling is expected. While specific language expertise is a plus (such as Java with Spring Boot or C++, and frontend frameworks like Angular or Flutter), the ability to learn and adapt quickly to new languages and frameworks is more important. Familiarity with CI/CD practices and DevOps tooling, along with experience developing applications in containerized or cloud-native environments like Docker and Kubernetes, will provide strong support for your success. Excellent communication skills are also vital for explaining complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and influencing outcomes through technical credibility.
