In this capacity, you will lead, mentor, and develop a team of high-performing tax professionals within the tax compliance group, providing essential guidance and coaching to support their professional growth and ensure an effective tax function. A key accountability involves overseeing the meticulous preparation and timely filing of all corporate income tax returns, indirect tax filings, and other critical information returns, thereby ensuring full compliance with all pertinent tax laws and regulations. Furthermore, you will manage the comprehensive quarterly and annual income tax provision process in accordance with IFRS, meticulously reviewing and finalising tax accounting calculations and financial statement disclosures. Your role extends to active participation in cross-functional collaboration, working closely with Finance, Treasury, and various business teams to provide expert tax guidance on strategic initiatives and transactions. This ensures that tax implications are thoroughly considered throughout the organisation, contributing to sound business practices and robust corporate reporting. Involvement in preparing formal memorandums and advising senior leadership on significant tax matters will also be a vital aspect of your responsibilities, further demonstrating your strong impact.
To excel in this challenging role, candidates should bring a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience working in a corporate tax environment or possess equivalent relevant experience, with a preference for prior leadership experience. A designated Accounting Professional (CPA) is required, complemented by the successful completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax course. You must demonstrate strong technical experience related to Canadian income tax law, with working knowledge of US and International taxation laws being a significant asset. Your profile should include strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly as they relate to income tax reporting and financial accounting.
