A primary focus of this role is ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction through adherence to The Home Depot's GET Model of customer service: Greeting, Engaging, and Thanking every customer. Flooring Associates are expected to actively seek out customers throughout the store, escorting them to appropriate merchandise, even in adjacent departments, to provide comprehensive service. You will ask open-ended questions to understand each customer's project needs and level of expertise, then promote valuable services such as Special Services, Tool Rental, and Pro Services, demonstrating how to recommend them effectively. This position significantly contributes to driving sales by discussing available options (good, better, best) and suggesting complementary items or services outside of the immediate department that customers may require for their whole project. Associates also educate customers on complete project solutions and execute daily stock maintenance to ensure products are signed, displayed, and clean, while also utilising empowerment programmes to satisfy customers when necessary.
To excel as a Flooring Associate, strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused approach are essential, alongside effective communication abilities. You will be expected to maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all products within your department and adjacent areas, proactively seeking out new information on products and services to better serve customers. This role also requires strict adherence to all safety and loss prevention policies and procedures to maintain a secure environment for both customers and associates. The physical demands of the position include bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving various items within a warehouse setting. The work environment can be dusty and noisy, with frequent temperature changes due to open doors. Flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends, is required. Candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with 1 to 2 years of retail or trade experience considered a valuable asset for this customer service-oriented role. The pay range for this position is between $18.60 - $19.60.
