A core responsibility of this role is to consistently ensure customer satisfaction by adhering to Home Depot’s GET Model of customer service: Greeting, Engaging, and Thanking every customer. Associates are expected to actively seek out customers, escorting them to appropriate merchandise regardless of the department, demonstrating a commitment to comprehensive service. By asking open-ended questions about customers' projects, you will effectively determine their needs and level of expertise, allowing you to provide relevant recommendations. You will also promote various services offered by Home Depot, such as Special Services, Tool Rental, Pro Desk, and Pro Services, understanding how to recommend them effectively to benefit the customer. Driving sales is a key performance indicator, achieved by discussing available options (good, better, best) and suggesting related items or services that customers may require outside of your immediate department, educating them about the whole project. Daily stock maintenance, ensuring all products are signed, displayed, and clean, also contributes to a positive customer experience and supports sales. Associates are empowered to use discretion when necessary to satisfy customers, reinforcing our commitment to exceptional service.
Success in this role requires a continuous commitment to building skills and knowledge. Associates must maintain up-to-date knowledge of all products within their primary department and adjacent departments, proactively seeking information on new products and services to better serve customers. This dedication to learning ensures that you can always provide accurate and helpful advice. The position also demands adherence to all safety policies and procedures, as well as Loss Prevention guidelines, to maintain a secure environment for both customers and associates. While no travel is required, the physical demands include bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items within a warehouse environment. This setting can be dusty and noisy, with frequently open doors leading to drafts and temperature changes. A flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, is a requirement for this part-time opportunity, allowing Home Depot to provide consistent service to its customers. A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum education, with 1 to 2 years of retail or trade experience considered a valuable asset, enhancing your ability to provide expert service.
