As a Millwork Sales Associate at Home Depot in Courtenay, you will be instrumental in ensuring customer satisfaction by actively seeking out customers and providing them with friendly, knowledgeable service. Your primary responsibility is to engage with customers, understand their project requirements, and guide them to the appropriate solutions, whether it's selecting products within the millwork department or recommending related items and services from other areas of the store. Associates are expected to provide comprehensive information on product features and be familiar with the full scope of a project, helping customers from start to finish. This includes promoting valuable services such as Special Services, Tool Rental, and Pro Services, ensuring every customer receives the support they need to complete their home improvement tasks successfully. The role emphasizes driving sales through informed recommendations and educating customers about all available options, from good to better to best, while also suggesting complementary products or services that might enhance their project.
A key aspect of this position involves maintaining a high level of product knowledge within your department and adjacent departments. Sales associates are encouraged to proactively seek out new information on all products and services to continually build their expertise. This dedication to knowledge allows associates to confidently answer customer questions and provide accurate, helpful advice. Furthermore, associates are responsible for daily stock maintenance, ensuring all products are properly signed, displayed, and kept clean, contributing to an organized and inviting shopping environment for all customers. The ability to provide basic service in adjacent departments also ensures a seamless customer experience, demonstrating a commitment to comprehensive service across the store.
Successful Millwork Sales Associates possess strong interpersonal skills and a genuine customer focus, enabling them to communicate effectively and build rapport with a diverse range of customers. The role requires a commitment to following Home Depot’s GET Model of customer service, which involves greeting, engaging, and thanking every customer. Candidates should be comfortable working in a dynamic warehouse environment that can be dusty and noisy, with frequently open doors leading to temperature changes. The position also involves physical activities such as bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items, requiring a reasonable level of physical fitness. Associates will work within a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends, adapting to the needs of the department and customers.
While a High School Diploma or equivalent is the minimum education requirement, 1 to 2 years of retail or trade experience is considered a valuable asset for this role. There are no specific travel requirements for this position. Safety and security are paramount, and all associates are expected to follow Home Depot’s safety policies and procedures, as well as Loss Prevention guidelines, to ensure a secure and safe environment for both customers and fellow associates. The pay range for this part-time position is between $18.90 - $19.90.
