  • Current certificate from a recognized college level Medical Device Reprocessing Course or CSA Medical Device Reprocessing Certification required; combination of in-class and apprenticeship hours preferred.
  • Ongoing CSA Recertification requirements to be maintained by applicant.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 1 year relevant experience in Medical Device Reprocessing.
  • Demonstrated experience using reprocessing equipment, such as washer disinfectors, steam sterilizers, and low temperature sterilizers.
  • Reprocessing of flexible endoscope experience is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills - both oral and written.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Aptitude for working with delicate and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.
  • Must be comfortable working alone if the situation occurs.

Responsibilities

As an MDR Technician, your primary responsibilities will centre on maintaining the highest standards of medical device reprocessing and effective communication within the healthcare environment.

  • Ensure that the Medical Device Reprocessing Department provides reprocessed items to patients and clients throughout the organization in a manner that adheres to guidelines and standards set by organizations such as CSA (Canadian Standards Association), PIDAC (Provincial Infections Diseases Advisory Committee), MDRAO (Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario) and Health Canada.
  • Effectively communicate with the clients in the workplace to ensure all their reprocessing needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
