As a Loss Prevention Specialist at Home Depot, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the company's assets and ensuring a secure shopping and working environment in the Vaughan North store. This position is primarily responsible for preventing financial loss caused by theft and fraud, including organized retail crime, and actively supporting safety and environmental program compliance. You will drive the execution of Home Depot’s internal and external theft and fraud strategy, utilizing various tools and techniques to effectively minimize loss to the company. Demonstrating unwavering integrity is paramount, as you will respond to and support key asset protection and operational concerns of all associates, remaining focused on store-specific business objectives. Your efforts will contribute directly to the profitability and safety of the Home Depot store.
This specialist position requires strong communication and relationship-building skills. You will regularly communicate with Asset Protection Specialist Supervisors (APSS) and Market Asset Protection Managers (MAPM) regarding internal and external investigations and physical security within the store. Maintaining an open channel of communication with store management and all associates is essential, as you partner with them to drive asset protection issues and foster a 'Shrink Elimination' culture throughout the store environment. Your compliance duties include detaining and interviewing individuals apprehended for shoplifting in accordance with local laws and company procedures. You will also drive the execution of store safety programs, validate compliance with company standards, and check the physical security of Home Depot facilities to prevent and deter fraudulent activity. This role involves writing detailed reports, preserving evidence, interacting with law enforcement, and representing Home Depot professionally in court-related procedures. Furthermore, you will effectively utilize CCTV and exception reports, audit Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systems, and conduct surveillance when required to protect the home depot asset.
To succeed in this vital asset protection role, candidates should possess at least one year of experience as a retail-related Loss Prevention Investigator or equivalent. Where applicable, maintaining a valid and up-to-date security guard license or private investigator license is a requirement. Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential for interacting effectively with all levels inside and outside the organization. The ability to analyse situations and resolve issues with innovation and creativity, coupled with proven ability to lead and drive complex projects, will be highly valued. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is a must. This position requires a strong work ethic, a sense of responsibility and confidentiality, and the ability to accomplish multiple assigned tasks with minimal supervision. While some travel may be required, the role primarily involves extended periods of standing and walking throughout the store locations, responding to announcements, and assisting associates and customers.
