As a Garden Centre Sales Associate, your primary focus will be on ensuring unparalleled customer satisfaction. This involves diligently following Home Depot’s GET Model of customer service, which includes greeting, engaging, and thanking every customer. You will actively seek customers throughout the store, escorting them to appropriate merchandise regardless of the department, demonstrating your commitment to comprehensive service. A crucial aspect of your role involves asking open-ended questions about customers’ projects to accurately determine their needs and level of expertise. You will promote various valuable services offered, such as Special Services, Tool Rental, Pro Desk, and Pro Services, expertly recommending them where appropriate. To drive sales, you will discuss available options (good, better, best) and suggest related items or services outside your immediate department that the customer may need, educating customers about the entire project. Daily stock maintenance, ensuring all products are signed, displayed, and clean, also falls within your responsibilities, alongside maintaining a safe and secure environment by adhering to all safety and loss prevention policies.
To excel in this Sales Associate role, strong competencies in effective communication and a genuine customer focus are essential. Successful candidates will possess excellent interpersonal skills, enabling them to build rapport and provide exceptional service to every customer. While a High School Diploma or equivalent is the minimum education requirement, 1 to 2 years of retail or trade experience is considered a valuable asset, enhancing your ability to assist customers effectively. This position requires physical capabilities such as bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items, as you will be actively involved in the garden centre environment. Associates must be prepared to work within a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends, adapting to the needs of our customers. The work environment is a warehouse setting that can be dusty and noisy, with doors frequently open, leading to drafts and interior temperature changes. The pay range for this position is between $18.90 - $19.90.
