About the Role
This is a part-time temporary Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) position based at the Kindersley Health Centre in Kindersley, Saskatchewan. The role is with the Saskatchewan Health Authority and is unionized under HSAS. It involves a 0.75 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) and is expected to run from June 12, 2026, to June 11, 2027. Shifts include days, nights, evenings, weekends, and standby, totalling 168 hours per six-week rotation. The pay band for this position ranges from $29.909 to $36.572 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager or designate, the EMT/PCP responds to both emergency and non-emergency events within the area of the province they are working. This role involves providing comprehensive assessment, treatment, and transportation of ill or injured persons. All duties must be performed consistently with The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and Regulations, Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Clinical Practice Protocols, The Paramedics Act and bylaws, and Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) policies, procedures, and work standards.
What You'll Bring
Candidates must possess a Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute and a valid Class 4 driver's licence. Essential certifications include Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Basic Life Support (BLS), and International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Certificates. You must be registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at the PCP/EMT level. Key competencies include strong listening, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, basic computer proficiency, and conflict resolution abilities. Demonstrated knowledge and abilities in decision-making through critical thinking, safe and consistent lifting/loading of stretchers, effective functioning in high-stress situations, and knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations are required. The ability to be resourceful, adapt to changing conditions, safely operate emergency vehicles, familiarity with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System, physical capability for pre-hospital emergency care duties, sound clinical judgement, and the capacity to work both independently and as a team member are essential.
