The Saskatchewan Health Authority is seeking a dedicated part-time Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) to join our team in Biggar, Saskatchewan. This regular part-time position involves 168 hours per six-week rotation, with shifts covering days, nights, evenings, weekends, and standby. The pay band for this role ranges from $29.909 to $36.572.
As an essential member of our ambulance service, you will report to a Manager or designate and be responsible for responding to both emergency and non-emergency events, providing critical pre-hospital care.
In this role, you will conduct thorough assessments, administer necessary treatments, and safely transport ill or injured persons. All duties must be performed consistently with The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and Regulations, the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Clinical Practice Protocols, The Paramedics Act and bylaws, and Saskatchewan Health Authority policies, procedures, and work standards.
You must possess a Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute and be registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at the PCP/EMT level. Essential certifications include International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
A valid Class 4 driver's licence is required for this position.
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and listening skills, alongside basic computer proficiency. You should have the ability to operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively, use sound clinical judgement, and adapt to changing conditions. Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, familiarity with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System, and the physical capability to perform pre-hospital emergency care duties, including regularly lifting and loading stretchers, are also crucial. The ability to function effectively in high-stress and emergency situations, both independently and as part of a team, is essential.
