As a Division 8 Estimator, you will specialise in specifying, detailing, and coordinating all door openings and hardware for building projects. This role ensures strict compliance with fire, life safety, and accessibility codes.
You will collaborate closely with architects, contractors, and building owners to develop comprehensive hardware schedules and specifications for non-residential projects. Your expertise will cover a range from basic hardware to complex systems, including electrified hardware and fire-rated assemblies, providing unbiased support throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
You will provide essential technical guidance to architects, contractors, and owners at every stage of a project. A key aspect of the role involves ensuring all door openings and hardware meet critical fire, life safety, accessibility codes, and other building requirements.
This position requires creating detailed specifications and hardware schedules for projects, often encompassing complex electrified hardware and fire-rated assemblies. You will also coordinate door openings and hardware with other building systems to prevent conflicts and facilitate smooth installation.
Advising on the optimal product selection for projects is crucial, sometimes acting as an independent advisor to guarantee the most appropriate and functional options are chosen. Furthermore, you will assist with project management aspects of door hardware, including installation coordination and potentially providing training for installation and maintenance personnel.
What You'll Bring
Candidates should possess deep knowledge of advanced mechanical and electronic door hardware products. The ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, and expertise in the Microsoft Office suite are essential.
Strong written and oral communication skills are required for effective interaction with various project stakeholders. You must be able to adapt to shifting priorities and solve problems efficiently in a high-pressure environment, demonstrating a high level of attention to detail for accuracy in specifications and code compliance.
Proficiency in project management principles and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively are also key qualifications. A post-secondary education in a related field is expected for this role.
