As a Critical Environment Program Manager at Microsoft Canada, you will play a pivotal role within the Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, which serves as the foundational engine powering Microsoft's extensive suite of cloud services. This position, based in Greater Toronto, ON, involves managing the business operations for a vast global portfolio of over 200 datacenters across 32 countries. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the financial health and operational efficiency of these critical environments, supporting services for billions of customers worldwide. Responsibilities include providing thought leadership in datacenter financials, ensuring accuracy, forecasting discipline, and compliance. Effective commercial and contract management is also a core aspect, involving end-to-end purchase order execution, invoice reviews, and comprehensive spend oversight in close collaboration with vendors and field operations. This role is crucial for maintaining Microsoft's commitment to environmental sustainability and optimisation within its datacenter design and operations, contributing to its status as a world-class cloud provider.
Beyond financial oversight, this role demands a proactive approach to cost optimisation and the leadership of strategic initiatives designed to enhance efficiencies while carefully balancing short-term needs with long-term operational impact. The Critical Environment Program Manager will foster strong operational partnerships and stakeholder alignment, leveraging local subject matter expertise and best practices to optimise service delivery and meet stringent Service Level Agreements. This involves assisting with the tracking of datacenter maintenance and repair activities and actively contributing to process evolution for CO+I operations. Candidates must possess a minimum of two years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology, or in delivering server and network deployment projects within large-scale environments. Additionally, two years of experience in cost management and two years of industry program and/or project management skills are essential. Proficiency with reporting and data analysis systems, such as PowerBI, is also required. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's or Technical College Degree in a relevant field and five years of experience in critical environment infrastructures, or seven years of experience with a high school qualification, demonstrating significant experience in managing complex physical IT infrastructures within a datacenter environment.
