Key Responsibilities
You will lead an assigned team of Auto Claims Representatives and provide technical direction to ensure the efficient handling of claims. This includes offering guidance, on-the-job training, and technical instructions, as well as direct leadership regarding performance, productivity, personal conduct, and adherence to processes and corporate policies. A key aspect of the role involves completing audits by reviewing and monitoring claims files and providing effective feedback.
You will foster staff development by assisting with staff selection, conducting performance evaluations, providing ongoing feedback, identifying training opportunities, and keeping staff informed of policy and procedure changes. Coaching and performance feedback will be provided to the Auto team through report reviews, discussion of options, and development of action plans. Additionally, you will manage expenses and an annual operating budget for the team, and initiate interviews for unit vacancies, making recommendations for new hires.
What You'll Bring
Candidates should possess 3 to 5 years of claims experience, with a specific focus on directly handling a variety of Auto claims. This is complemented by 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience. Essential skills include demonstrated organisational, negotiation, analytical, and interpersonal abilities. A university degree from any discipline is required, or a college diploma from a minimum two-year program in a relevant discipline from a provincially recognised and funded community college, and/or the CIP designation.
You should be professional, friendly, and courteous in all interactions with customers and co-workers. The ideal candidate excels in busy environments, maintaining calmness and quick thinking, and embracing change. Strong customer interaction focus and proven performance management experience are crucial, coupled with well-developed communication, organisational, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Being a natural coach and mentor is also highly valued. Fluency in both English and French is considered an asset for this position.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every requirement, as we value diverse backgrounds and perspectives to help us make insurance better. This role requires successful clearance of background checks, including criminal checks and leadership references.
