Reporting to the Team Leader, Accident Benefit Claims, you will be accountable for investigating, evaluating, and settling Accident Benefit claims. This role is with Definity in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

You will investigate, evaluate, and settle accident benefit claims in accordance with the Insurance Act. This involves securing claim details by corresponding with claimants and their representatives, and assessing coverage eligibility by reviewing and applying interpretations of policy wordings to resolve coverage issues.
Processing income replacement, non-earner, and attendant care claims is a key part of the role. You are responsible for reserving files appropriately after assessing claims and maintaining detailed file records on an electronic claims system. Processing payments after confirming benefits, eligibility, and reserves, and coordinating the most effective course of action for claims are also required.
You will confirm collateral benefits and respond to claimant correspondence and accident benefit forms according to applicable legislation. Reviewing and approving treatment plans for claimant rehabilitation when appropriate, arranging insurer examinations to determine benefits eligibility, and preparing referral packages with necessary medical information for these examinations are also included. Finally, you will respond to assessment recommendations.
Candidates should possess a university degree, college diploma in a related field, or the CIP designation. A minimum of two to three years of claims handling experience is required, and proficiency in MS Word and Excel is essential for this position.
