Technical Business Analysis Specialist - Scotiabank, Toronto

The Technical Business Analysis Specialist is responsible for providing application support and business analysis for the applications under management including CRIMS, SCD, MPOWER, and IDH. This role requires an understanding of the financial services industry, with focus on Portfolio Management, Compliance, Securities Trading, Matching and Settlement, Portfolio Accounting, Custody, and Fund Accounting.

What you'll do

This position is primarily focused on supporting the delivered features and functionalities for our asset management line of business.

• Provide application support and business analysis for the applications under management: CRIMS, SCD, MPOWER, IDH.
• Focus on Portfolio Management, Compliance, Securities Trading, Matching and Settlement, Portfolio Accounting, Custody, and Fund Accounting.
• Configure and support solutions on at least one of the applications under management.
• Work with process flows for equities, fixed income, ETF, money market and derivative financial instruments, including market trading conventions and portfolio management.

Skills and experience

We would love to work with you if you bring the following background and qualifications to the team:

• 7 to 10+ years of practical IT experience supporting applications for the relevant lines of business such as Asset Management, Investment Accounting, Securities Trading, and Portfolio Management.
• Experience with SimCorp Dimension (SCD), Charles River (CRIMS), CGI’s MPOWER, and Markit EDM (IDH).
• Understanding of applications landscape in Asset Management business including Portfolio and Order Management, Investment Accounting, Book of Record, Matching and Settlement, file transfers, securities data, compliance, and Fund Accounting.
• Expertise on batch jobs for Order Management Systems and identifying areas of improvements in overnight processes.
• Creative, self-starting, results oriented and highly motivated individual with very good analytical skills to independently resolve complex business problems.
• Understanding of current IT practices, systems development techniques, requirements specification, testing methodologies, real time analytical and formal modelling tools.
• Project Management experience with a strong understanding of agile project management principles and practices is an asset.
• Advanced knowledge of financial instruments, including market conventions and valuation methods, risk management methodologies and models, and current and anticipated regulatory requirements.
• Adept at understanding Asset Management processes and end-to-end workflows and integration with Middle and Back Offices in one or more financial asset classes.
