Sr Mainframe Engineer - TD Bank, Toronto

The TD Securities Payments Workflow Technology team is looking for a senior mainframe developer to implement solutions in alignment with the firm's technology strategy. The team is responsible for providing technology solutions around the Payments distributed workflow applications, giving you an exciting platform for skill development and career growth among TD Bank jobs in Toronto.

What you'll do

As a senior mainframe engineer pursuing engineering jobs Toronto, you will handle online and batch mainframe applications through all stages of the software lifecycle.

• Responsible for detailed technical design, development, and maintenance of applications on the mainframe platform, including conducting impact analysis, designing and coding programs, creating and executing test cases, and participating in implementation and verification of application changes.
• Develop detailed design specifications, perform detailed impact analysis across all applications, create and/or modify code, unit test the changes and promote to higher environments.
• Lead technical aspects of project from inception through to deployment, participating in analysis and system design specification sessions.
• Apply analytical skills to resolve problems, deliver viable solutions, anticipate obstacles, and execute proactive approaches to issues.
• Provide detailed development estimates to Project Manager for development effort as well as weekly status reporting for budget forecasting.
• Handle configuration and coordination management for sub projects within a deployment release.
• Responsible for coding, testing, packaging, deployment, and support of builds as code is promoted from development, system, acceptance, and production environments.
• Work closely with System Test Environment Management Team to ensure that environments are fully functional and that builds are deployed properly.
• Participate in development of test strategy, test plans, test cases and testing efforts including unit testing, integration testing, system integration testing, and pre-acceptance testing.
• Provide technical support to business and testing teams during testing phases, tracking defects, defect triage, and resolution.
• Coach and mentor junior developers while prioritizing and managing your own workload to meet timelines.

• Undergraduate Degree or Technical Certificate.
• 5-8 years' experience with substantial project work in software development.
• Strong skills and working experience in mainframe MVS, TSO, COBOL, JCL, Mainframe utilities, Endevor, CA-7, MQ and databases such as DB2 and IMS DB/DC.
• Readiness and motivation as a senior or lead developer and valued subject matter expert to address and resolve highly complex development-related issues.
• Solid experience and knowledge in discipline, analysis, design activities, software support, development of technical solutions, testing and best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong academic background in computer science or engineering.
• Collaboration tools experience with Confluence and JIRA.
• Ability to adapt Agile processes and to changing business needs.
• Advanced knowledge of specific domain or range of engineering frameworks, technology, tools, processes, and procedures.
• Knowledge of Wire payments, SWIFT MT messages, and SWIFT ISO MX messages are an asset.
