Join Scotiabank's Information Technology & Solutions (IT&S) team as a ServiceNow Developer in Toronto. Day-to-day

As a ServiceNow Developer, your daily responsibilities will involve a range of technical and collaborative tasks, focusing on enhancing the ServiceNow platform to meet evolving business needs and improve user experience. Your experience will be crucial in driving continuous development and operational excellence.

  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Design, develop, and configure ServiceNow modules such as ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, APM, and others based on business needs.
  • Implement workflows, business rules, and automation to streamline processes and improve user experience.
  • Integrate ServiceNow with other enterprise systems using technologies like REST and SOAP web services.
  • Participate in the full ServiceNow implementation lifecycle, including requirement gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, and deployment.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in a timely manner, honouring the allocated budget and timelines.
  • Create and maintain documentation on application configurations, system integrations, and process workflows.
  • Work closely with IT teams, business stakeholders, and other ServiceNow professionals to align solutions with organizational goals.
  • Stay up to date with the latest ServiceNow features and best practices to provide efficient solutions.
  • Make recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code.
  • Participate in component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluation, and buy vs. build recommendations.
  • Take part in cross-training with peers on different aspects of development.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations, ensuring adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning.

Qualifications

To succeed in this ServiceNow Developer role, you should possess a strong technical foundation and practical experience with the ServiceNow platform, coupled with excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. Your experience will be key to contributing effectively to our dynamic environment.

  • Computer Science Diploma or Degree; or related work experience.
  • ITIL Foundation certification or training.
  • Experience with ServiceNow modules such as ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, EA.
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and good knowledge of web technologies.
  • Experience in developing ServiceNow integrations using REST, SOAP, Web Services, and other integration techniques.
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • ServiceNow certifications such as Certified System Administrator (CSA) and Certified Application Developer (CAD) are a plus.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good time management skills to work on multiple assignments.
  • Ability to do research and development of new ways to leverage the ServiceNow platform.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues independently.
