About the Role

As a Senior Manager, Market Data Engineering within Scotiabank's Capital Markets Technology team in Toronto, you will play a pivotal role in enabling accurate, scalable, and governed data feeds essential for business-critical trading, risk, regulatory, and analytics systems across the entire enterprise. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data ingestion and distribution pipelines for both market and reference data within the Asset Control (AC) Platform. This includes integrating external vendor feeds, such as Bloomberg and LSEG, and internal source systems, ensuring precise normalisation, enrichment, and persistence of all data. Furthermore, you will develop and maintain in-house data feeds to support various downstream front-, middle-, and back-office systems, including crucial trading, risk, compliance, and reporting platforms. Ensuring data quality, lineage, controls, and consistency in alignment with enterprise data governance standards is paramount. This role also involves close partnership with business, technology, data governance, and vendor teams to analyse requirements, resolve data issues, and support the continuous evolution of the platform. You will also provide guidance and mentorship to engineers within the team, contributing to technical standards, design reviews, and delivery practices, fostering an inclusive and high-performing culture.

Skills and Experience

To succeed in this challenging Senior Manager role, candidates must possess strong hands-on experience integrating market and reference data from major vendors like Bloomberg and LSEG. A proven knowledge of security and instrument reference data, including identifiers such as CUSIP, ISIN, and FIGI, and their application across the trade lifecycle, is essential. Solid understanding of multiple asset classes, including Equities, Fixed Income, FX, and Derivatives, along with their associated market and static data attributes, is also a critical requirement. The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing scalable, resilient data pipelines and feeds within a distributed data platform environment. Experience working with data quality, reconciliation, lineage, and control frameworks in regulated environments is highly valued, demonstrating a commitment to robust data governance. The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex business requirements into clear technical solutions, is crucial for success in this collaborative environment. Preferred qualifications include prior experience working with security master or asset control platforms, a background in data governance, metadata management, or reference data domain models, and previous experience leading or mentoring senior engineers in delivery teams, showcasing leadership and team development capabilities.
