This pivotal Senior Java Developer role within TD Securities offers an exceptional opportunity to significantly contribute to the Market Risk Technology Engineering Team in Toronto. As a key member, you will be instrumental in the development and support of critical derivatives valuation, trading risk, and enterprise market risk applications. This position is central to building robust, hybrid cloud-based solutions, including Risk & Capital Studio, Valuation Services, and Curve & Volatility Generation. Your expertise in Java software engineering will directly help enhance the strategic growth and implementation of our sophisticated risk and valuation platforms. We are seeking a self-starting, high-performing Java software engineer with a strong engineering mindset to drive the evolution of our risk and valuation applications. This role involves significant development opportunities, including migrating to new cloud environments, building new applications, and refactoring legacy systems to optimize performance and scalability. You will have the chance to influence overall architectural direction, assist in the software evolution from batch-oriented end-of-day to intra-day capabilities, and lead the development of crucial software components. Demonstrable experience with the Spring tech stack, building microservices using Spring Boot, and integrating with REST APIs and gRPC endpoints is essential. Furthermore, expertise with messaging technologies like Kafka, Big Data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark, and fluency in SQL for RDBMS will be critical. Your strong understanding of clean coding practices and experience with scalable, low-latency systems will be invaluable. Beyond technical prowess, strong communication skills and proven experience collaborating efficiently within a global team are paramount, as is working closely with PMs and business sponsors to deliver impactful solutions for capital markets products, including derivatives and cross-asset products. Knowledge of market risk, trade valuations, FRTB, VaR, and stress testing processes will be a considerable asset, helping to manage financial risk effectively.
