Faire is actively seeking a Senior Growth Engineer in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, to join their Retailer Growth business unit. This pivotal role focuses on owning end-to-end growth experiments, building customer-facing features, and designing scalable systems.
Candidates will partner closely with product, design, data science, analytics, and marketing teams to transform hypotheses into measurable growth engines. Top requirements include over five years of professional software engineering experience, strong skills in either frontend or backend development, and a deep commitment to experimentation and data-informed decision-making.
About Faire and the Retailer Growth Team
Faire is a leading technology wholesale platform dedicated to empowering independent retailers globally. Built on the belief that local businesses are the future, Faire leverages advanced technology, data, and machine learning to connect a thriving community of entrepreneurs. The platform helps boutique owners discover and stock unique products from around the world, providing the tools and insights necessary for businesses to grow and local communities to thrive. This commitment to fostering a vibrant retail ecosystem underscores Faire's mission.
The Senior Growth Engineer will join Faire's dedicated Retailer Growth business unit, which oversees core growth strategies from initial top-of-funnel engagement to successful retailer onboarding and sustained platform success. This team is central to ensuring that retailers not only join Faire but also flourish, making a tangible impact on their business outcomes. The role offers the chance to contribute significantly to the company's overarching goal of levelling the playing field for independent businesses.
Driving Impact Through Experimentation and Engineering
This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of product, experimentation, and engineering, aiming to own meaningful business outcomes rather than just shipping features. The Senior Growth Engineer will be responsible for owning and delivering growth experiments end-to-end, from initial ideation through to implementation and comprehensive analysis. This includes building impactful customer-facing features designed to improve funnel conversion, enhance onboarding success, and boost overall engagement on the Faire platform.
Depending on individual strengths, the focus may lean towards designing and implementing scalable APIs and services for backend systems, or crafting intuitive, high-performance user interfaces for frontend development. A key aspect of this position is partnering with Data Science and Analytics teams to define success metrics and accurately interpret experiment results, ensuring all decisions are data-informed. Candidates will also contribute to the evolution of experimentation frameworks and growth tooling infrastructure, helping to improve engineering quality, velocity, and operational efficiency within the Growth organisation. This experience will be invaluable in shaping growth strategy through technical insight and writing clean, secure, tested, and maintainable code that scales to millions of users.
Desired Skills and Professional Experience
Faire is seeking candidates with at least five years of professional software engineering experience, demonstrating a strong foundation in computer science fundamentals or equivalent industry experience. Essential technical expertise includes robust experience in either backend development, utilising technologies such as Kotlin, Java, C#, APIs, databases, and distributed systems, or frontend development, with proficiency in React, TypeScript/JavaScript, modern UI frameworks, and performance optimisation. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of shipping customer-facing features that have delivered measurable impact.
Beyond technical prowess, a deep care for experimentation, A/B testing, and data-informed decision-making is crucial. Successful applicants will be comfortable working in fast-moving, hypothesis-driven environments, taking ownership beyond mere implementation to connect technical decisions directly to business outcomes. Bonus experience includes working on growth, activation, onboarding, or monetisation teams, leading major growth initiatives, or having experience in marketplace, e-commerce, or B2B SaaS environments. Familiarity with experimentation platforms, feature flagging systems, and close collaboration with Data Science or Analytics teams will also be highly valued, as will exposure to lifecycle marketing, CRM systems, or data pipeline integrations.
