As a Senior Growth Platform Engineer at Faire, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of retailer growth on a leading wholesale platform. The role is situated within a business unit dedicated to overseeing core growth strategies, from initial top-of-funnel engagement to successful retailer onboarding and sustained activity on Faire. Given the increasing complexity of experimentation, segmentation, targeting, and personalization as the growth organisation scales, Faire is making significant investments in platform capabilities. These enhancements are designed to empower multiple product teams, allowing them to move faster and conduct higher-quality experiments safely at scale.
You will design and build the foundational backend systems that power growth across Faire, thinking in terms of reusable capabilities, scalable architecture, and long-term leverage. This critical position focuses on developing robust backend systems that enable sophisticated experimentation, precise targeting, effective incentives, lifecycle triggers, and comprehensive growth automation throughout the entire retailer journey. Your work will directly contribute to improving experimentation velocity by reducing friction in tooling, deployment, and analysis, ensuring systems are reliable, observable, secure, and capable of operating at marketplace scale. This experience will be vital in driving the company's mission to empower local businesses.
Faire is seeking candidates with at least five years of backend software engineering experience, demonstrating strong proficiency in designing and operating distributed systems at scale. Ideal applicants will have built or significantly contributed to experimentation platforms or growth infrastructure, showcasing a deep understanding of the underlying systems. Fluency in backend technologies such as Kotlin, Java, or similar JVM-based systems is essential, alongside extensive experience designing APIs and working with relational databases like MySQL or CockroachDB. A solid grasp of event-driven architectures, data pipelines, and instrumentation best practices is also required.
The successful candidate will care deeply about system reliability, observability, and performance, always thinking in terms of leverage to build systems that empower many teams.
