About this opportunity

New Verticals launched in 2020 to take the DoorDash marketplace beyond restaurants, spanning over 100,000 grocery, convenience, alcohol, retail, and DashMart stores across the US and Canada. These DoorDash jobs focus on building our Canadian marketplace to ensure we deliver exactly what consumers want with speed and quality. These roles sit at the intersection of strategy, operations, and product, allowing you to generate new ideas, own metrics, and test concepts while leveraging AI.

What you'll do

As part of DoorDash careers in Toronto, you will engage in several core responsibilities to optimize the marketplace:

• Strategize from first principles to develop the optimal strategy for serving dashers, merchants, and consumers.
• Operate by owning tracking dashboards and managing week-over-week metrics to drive high-quality operations.
• Experiment by designing, launching, and sharing out operational experiments and product features impacting dynamic delivery windows, order batching, predictive ordering, and in-app merchandising.
• Analyze data by building models using Excel and SQL to evaluate economic, operational, and strategic costs and benefits.
• Build with AI by using tools to automate manual processes, build new prototypes, and develop product visions.
• Lead, collaborate, and influence cross-functional teams including growth, quality, finance, product, analytics, and engineering.
• Own core metrics across Dashers or Consumers as the DRI for success metrics like acceptance rates, batch rates, subtotals, and basket sizes.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Analytics, and US Logistics counterparts to share learnings and scale what works.

Requirements

• Solve problems from first principles and resist static thinking.
• Demonstrate an entrepreneurial bias for action with the ability to build things from the ground up.
• Act as an operator who solves problems by understanding their root causes.
• Like data and let it win arguments, being comfortable building complex SQL queries across multiple data sources with experience in data visualization and dashboarding tools.
• Be energized by AI tools like Claude, Cursor, and Gemini, bringing a builder's mindset to automate and accelerate analytical work.
• Be unafraid of uncharted territory as the role continues to take shape.
• Have 2-4+ years of experience in high-performing cultures like tech, operations, strategy, consulting, banking, startups, or related experiences.
• Hold a completed Bachelor's Degree.

The team

The Canada New Verticals Strategy & Operations team operates in a hybrid model. You will report into a Manager as an individual contributor.
