About the Position
This part-time Research Dietitian position is located at the UBC Hospital Site in Vancouver, BC, Canada, specifically within the Allergy unit at BC Children's Hospital. The role requires working 1 to 2 days per week and reports to the Principal Investigator and Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The compensation for this role ranges from $41.13 to $59.12 CAD Hourly. Key Responsibilities
The Research Dietitian will be responsible for developing and testing an algorithm to refer food allergy patients with nutritional needs from the BC Children's Hospital allergy clinic. This involves conducting chart reviews to assess primary nutritional needs and consulting with allergists to understand referral reasons. The aim is to create a comprehensive flowchart for allergists to guide patient referrals to dietitians at BCCH, in the community, or with written resources. Another key responsibility is to compile a resource list of local dietitians for families attending the BC Children's Hospital allergy clinic. Furthermore, the role involves developing dosing schedules for the oral immunotherapy research programme. This includes a thorough literature review of global research on oral immunotherapy treatment doses. Based on these findings, the dietitian will create varied dosing schedules for different food allergies, offering options tailored to children's taste and texture preferences. The incumbent is expected to conduct research activities ethically, work independently with minimal supervision, and maintain strict confidentiality of all study participants. The role requires a high degree of clinical judgment and autonomy, and there may be opportunities to provide work direction to other research staff.
