The Capital Markets Canadian Regulatory Services group is responsible for successfully implementing and executing ever-changing regulatory reporting requirements imposed by various global Regulators for OTC Derivatives. This role ensures compliance with trade reporting regulations, including but not limited to CFTC, SEC, and CSA Trade Reporting for OTC Derivatives trading. The position involves daily reconciliations, exception monitoring, investigation, issue management, and Management Information reporting.
Key Responsibilities
You will perform counterparty reconciliations to the Global Trade Repository. This includes carrying out onboarding processes related to portfolio reconciliation. You will ensure any portfolio reconciliation discrepancies are actively investigated with counterparties and follow up on their timely resolution. The role requires performing daily and weekly trade reporting reconciliations.
You will investigate and determine root causes leading to regulatory rejections. Daily Global Trade Repository warning report review, daily exception monitoring, and issue management are also key tasks. You will complete monthly Management Information reporting and daily Valuation health checks. It is essential to ensure all daily tasks and controls are completed in line with departmental procedures.
You will continuously develop product and market knowledge to ensure daily processes are appropriate for reducing operational risks. This role involves investigating any processing issues and recommending a course of action to the Team Manager, then assisting in the execution of the proposed change once approved. You will support colleagues during busy periods by sharing workloads as applicable.
Adherence to mandatory training requirements and a proactive approach to suggesting appropriate additional training are expected. You will liaise with Front Office, Business and Client Services, Compliance, IT, Trading Documentation Team, and Client Data Management to resolve client issues. Escalation of trade reporting issues to Senior Management and Compliance will be necessary when deemed appropriate.
Achieving and maintaining the highest levels of customer service is crucial. You will analyse current state processes to provide suggestions for process re-engineering and technology implementation to improve efficiency and controls. Effective communication and building rapport with team members, stakeholders, and business partners using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close are also vital.
What You'll Bring
Candidates should have at least one year of operational experience in a fast-paced, high-risk, and demanding operational environment. A Bachelor’s degree specialising in Business, Finance, Math, or Engineering is required. You will possess a solid understanding of procedures and operational controls as they relate to systems and workflows. A detailed understanding of the fundamentals of Capital Markets trading and the transaction lifecycle is essential. Working knowledge of OTC Derivative products is necessary, along with knowledge of CFTC, SEC, CSA, and other global derivatives reform regimes.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including presentation skills, are a must. You must be able to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, learn quickly, and perform new tasks accurately, effectively, and efficiently. Familiarity with front, middle, and back office applications such as Murex, Openlink, MarkitWire, and DTCC is expected. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word, is also required.
A detailed understanding of RBC Capital Markets organisational structure, covering front office sales and trading, middle office, product control, back office operations, regulatory, and compliance, is considered an asset. Proficiency in VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) is also an asset.
