Project Manager - City of Ottawa, Ottawa

As part of the Design and Construction Branch, you manage total project delivery using in-house and/or external resources for infrastructure construction and rehabilitation projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities cover all phases of project delivery from inception through to commissioning and turnover.

• Manage multiple projects for all phases of project delivery, including project inception, consultant selection, public consultation, environmental assessments, pre-design, detailed design, tendering, award, and construction
• Monitor, track, and report on project status
• Approve all project expenditures and arrange all project-related testing
• Handle commissioning and turnover to operating branches
• Participate in project identification, prioritization, and planning
• Organize the conduct of environmental impact assessments and other studies across all lifecycle stages
• Contribute to the review and development of department engineering standards
• Carry out other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Candidates must meet specific education, experience, and knowledge requirements to qualify for these City of Ottawa jobs.

• Completion of 4 year university degree in Engineering or Applied Science or equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the planning, design and construction of municipal infrastructure
• Minimum of 3 years of project management experience
• Knowledge of engineering planning, design, operations and construction/rehabilitation of municipal structures, infrastructure and utilities
• Familiarity with related federal, provincial and engineering legislation, regulations, standards, codes and by-laws
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation and appropriate actions to ensure staff safety
• English oral, reading, and writing language requirements
