About the Opportunity at Arc'teryx
Arc'teryx invites skilled makers to join their manufacturing facility, ARC’One, located in New Westminster, BC. This facility is crucial for bringing Arc'teryx products to life, serving as a hub for prototyping, testing, refining, and manufacturing the brand's renowned technical gear. Here, some of the most technically complex products, including the iconic Alpha SV jacket and new product pilots, are meticulously built. The facility also supports the ReBIRD repair and renewal programs, extending the life of Arc'teryx gear and contributing to a more sustainable future. This position offers a hands-on, precision work environment where craftsmanship, problem-solving, and continuous improvement are highly valued on the production floor. The team is seeking dedicated Industrial Sewing Machine Operators to contribute to their ever-growing operation.
After an initial three months of comprehensive training in their dedicated department, you will be assigned to one of the production lines. Developing your skills is a priority, with a continuing Learning & Development Program designed to help you acquire new skills on various products, from jackets and pants to specialized gear. This commitment to growth means you will have opportunities to advance within the company, potentially joining Warranty, Sample, Quality, or Training Teams, the Design Center, or becoming a future Team Leader. This is a full-time, permanent position, Monday to Friday, situated in the Queensborough area of New Westminster.
Key Responsibilities and Growth at Arc'teryx
As an Industrial Sewing Machine Operator, your core activities will involve following company procedures for apparel construction, adhering to model specifications, and executing instructions from Team Leaders or Supervisors. You will play a vital role in the making of key Arc'teryx products, such as the Alpha SV jacket, outdoor clothing, Veilance products, harnesses, and packs. Beyond operating the sewing machine, you will also handle basting and pressing operations using Arc'teryx's in-house equipment. Quality is paramount, and you will be responsible for reviewing, troubleshooting, and repairing any quality control issues in collaboration with the Quality Control Inspector and your Team Leader or Supervisor. Arc'teryx champions evolution, and you will partner with your team to identify areas for improvement, striving to be better than yesterday. The company believes in cross-learning, continually challenging you to develop your skills and enable you to support all production lines as needed.
Looking ahead, your willingness to learn, combined with the continuing Learning & Development Program, will allow you to climb through nine skill levels. Starting from intricate pocket construction to front zippers, isolated parts, or even equipment for alpine instructors and rescuers, you have the potential to become a true "Sewing Master" within the Arc'teryx manufacturing team.

Arc'teryx is seeking an individual who possesses a minimum of one year of experience operating an industrial sewing machine, such as a Juki. Given the multicultural nature of their teams, effective communication in English is essential, even if it is not your first language. A genuine passion for sewing, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong desire to learn and develop new sewing skills are key attributes for this role. Your adaptability and flexibility will be significant strengths, enabling you to thrive in a fast-paced work environment where receiving multiple feedbacks in a single day is common. Arc'teryx values proactive thinking; therefore, the capacity to "think out of the box," provide constructive feedback, and propose innovative ideas is highly regarded. Joining Arc'teryx means contributing to a company that believes in leaving things better, constantly pursuing disruptive evolution, and committing to bold objectives.
